Resumen de Región y revolución liberal en el Perú hispano: las diputaciones provinciales (1820-1824)

La Constitución de 1812 creó la diputación provincial como una institución electiva, dotada de múltiples competencias —hacienda, obras públicas, educación, beneficencia, justicia, demarcación territorial, instrucciones a los diputados a Cortes, misiones en Ultramar...—. Se analizará el caso peruano (1812-1814 y 1820-1824): los procesos electorales, la prosopografía de sus diputados y su acción de gobierno, sus relaciones con otros organismos estatales y su influencia en las di-námicas políticas regionales, en el contexto de las guerras por la inde-pendencia y de confrontación de distintos proyectos liberales.

The Spanish Constitution of 1812 established the provincial council as an elective institution, and endowed it with various pow-ers —taxation, public works, education, welfare, justice, territorial de-marcation, directives to the deputies of the Cortes, overseas missions, etc.— With respect to the case of Peru (1812-1814 and 1820-1824), the following will be analysed: the electoral processes, the prosopogra-phy and governing actions of the deputies, and their relationships with other state organisms and their influence on regional political dynam-ics. The subjects must be understood within the context of the wars of Independence and confrontation of different liberal projects.
