  The satirical news program is a television genre that recycles discourse from traditional media sources, with the aim of creating a distorted staging of information. We propose a dialogic and enunciative reflection on verbal irony, particularly as it relates to the ethos developed within fictional interactions in the parodic sequences of a satirical news broadcast. We are interested specifically in the relationship between (i) the dialogic interaction, in which the ironic discourse interacts with the previous discourse of the impersonated politician, and (ii) the dialogal interaction between the host of the satirical news program and the impersonator. From the study of our corpus of 60 sequences from two French TV shows, we show that the dialogic functioning of verbal irony plays a role in the construction of the other’s ethos. The ironic discourse attributed to the caricatured characters representing the politicians can not only distort the discourse held by the latter but also deform the image that they had been seeking to project of themselves.

  Le journal télévisé satirique est un genre qui recycle les discours circulant au sein des médias traditionnels, dans le but de produire une mise en scène décalée de l’information. Nous proposons une réflexion sur l’ironie verbale au niveau énonciatif et dialogique, et plus particulièrement, en relation avec les ethos élaborés au sein des interactions fictives, construites dans les séquences parodiques du genre du journal télévisé satirique. Nous nous intéressons plus précisément à la relation entre (i) l’interaction dialogique, dans laquelle le discours ironique interagit avec les discours antérieurs de la personnalité politique imité, et (ii) l’interaction dialogale entre l’animateur du journal télévisé satirique et l’imitateur. À partir de l’étude du corpus de 60 séquences provenant de deux émissions françaises, nous montrons que le fonctionnement dialogique de l’ironie verbale joue un rôle dans la construction de l’ethos de l’autre. Les discours ironiques prêtés aux personnages caricaturaux représentant les personnalités politiques peuvent non seulement détourner les discours tenus par ceux-ci mais aussi déformer l’image qu’ils cherchaient à projeter d’eux.
