Actualización de las interacciones farmacológicas de los antifúngicos sistémicos

    La incidencia de las infecciones fúngicas sistémicas se ha incrementado considerablemente durante las últimas décadas; sin embargo, el número de antifúngicos disponibles sigue siendo reducido. Además, estas infecciones suelen afectar a pacientes con graves enfermedades de base y en tratamiento con diversos fármacos que pueden interaccionar con los antifúngicos, disminuyendo su eficacia terapéutica o aumentando su toxicidad. En este trabajo se estudian las interacciones de los antifúngicos sistémicos con otros fármacos, comentando sus repercusiones clínicas y las actitudes terapéuticas a tomar en cada caso.

    The incidence of systemic fungal infections has increased considerably in the last few decades, however the number of available antifungal agents continues to be reduced. Furthermore, these infections tend to affect patients with severe underlying diseases who are treated with different types of medication which may interact with antifungal agents, thus reducing their therapeutic efficacy or increasing their toxicity. In this paper, we discuss the interactions of systemic antifungal agents with other medications and comment on their clinical consequences and the therapeutic approach to adopt in each case.
