Examinando a través de una rápida mirada los acontecimientos del siglo pasado (XX), parece indudable que todos (los europeos) hemos asistido a la casi permanente obligación de seguir, aunque algunos unos pasos por detrás, las tendencias de pensamiento que han proclamado los principales países del centro europeo. Esto que ha venido sucediendo sistemáticamente en sus diferentes y sucesivos movimientos artísticos, vanguardias y nuevas corrientes de estilo, nos debe hacer reflexionar, especialmente debido a su gran repercusión en lo que concierne a nuestra disciplina; la arquitectura. En este sentido y sin restar el consabido mérito que las vanguardias comportan, sino más bien todo lo contrario, es decir, valorando en su justo contenido el enriquecimiento que a través de ellas ha hecho posible el progreso entre otros campos el de la propia arquitectura, no quisiera pasar por alto la oportunidad de puntualizar sobre los mecanismos, ajenos ya a aquellas, por los cuales se expanden, se propagan y hasta a veces se imponen en nuevos territorios colonizados.

Throwing a brief glance at the events of the last (20th) century, it seems indubitable that we all (the Europeans) have witnessed an almost permanent obligation of following, though some steps behind, the tendencies of thought proclaimed by the leading countries of Central Europe. The systematic change of their variegated artistic movements, vanguards and new stylistic trends must make us reflex, especially due to its repercussion on our discipline, Architecture. In this connection, and without diminishing the advantages of the vanguards, or, instead, appraising the enrichment and subsequent progress of different fields, Architecture among them. I'd like to make good use of the opportunity and specify the mechanisms of expansion, propagation and some- times even imposition of these tendencies in new colonized territories.
