    Solo si admitimos que, además del principio de inercia natural, los cuerpos no son indiferentes al movimiento y al reposo sino que en ellos reside una fuerza física de resistencia elástica proporcional a su masa, serían inteligibles las leyes y reglas del movimiento de Galileo y de Huygens. Y es así como en el mundo lo compuesto simboliza con lo simple: pues la naturaleza es uniforme en el fondo y variada al infinito en sus manifestaciones fenoménicas.

    Only if we admit that, in addition to the principle of natural inertia, all bodies are not indifferent to motion and rest but are endowed to physical force of elastic resistance proportional to their mass, would the Galileo’s and Huygens’s laws and rules of motion be intelligible. And this is how in the world the compound symbolizes with the simple; because nature is uniform in the background and infinitely varied in its phenomenal manifestations.
