Resumen de Partner influence, emotion, and relational outcomes: a test of relational turbulence theory in early dating relationships

Burgeoning romantic relationships are times of transition that can be both fruitful and satisfying and yet full of stress and confusion for the individuals involved. The current study explores assessments of partner influence, emotion, cognitions, and behavioral contributions to the relationships’ overall health among 63 dating couples in the early stages of their romantic relationships. Drawing on relational turbulence theory (RTT), we analyzed the influence of emotion on romantic partner conflict and relational turmoil, and the resulting impact on individual’s perceptions of romantic love and stress in their relationships. Results provided partial support for the hypotheses of the study and implications for future research are considered.
