EVALUACIÓN DE DENSIDAD DE FIBRA Y CONDUCTOS PILOSOS EN OVINOS CORRIEDALE

    El objetivo del presente estudio fue i) evaluar la densidad de fibra (Denf), densidad de conductos pilosos (Denp), diámetro de fibra (Df) y longitud de mecha (Lm) en ovinos de la raza Corriedale de 5 diferentes edades (dl = dientes de leche, b-2d = borreguillas 2 dientes, b-4d = borregas 4 dientes, b-6d = borregas 6 dientes, b-bll = borrega boca llena) y 3 zonas de medición (paleta, costillar medio y grupa); ii) determinar la correlación entre Denf, Denp, Df y Lm; se emplearon 30 ovinos; se empleó el Diseño Completamente al Azar con arreglo factorial de 3 × 5 y un análisis de correlación (r) entre las variables mencionadas; los resultados evidencian que, la Denp, fue mayor en animales dl (3.46 ± 0.67 fibras/mm2) y menor en b-bll (2.54±0.75 fibras/mm2), respectivamente; mientras que la Lm fue mayor en b-bll que en dl, 95.17±5.71 y 73.74±10.66 mm2 respectivamente. El Df fue menor en animales dl que en b-bll, 24.69±1.51 y 28.79±3.59 μm, respectivamente. La r entre Denf y Denp fue alta y positiva (r = 0.74), mientras que, la r entre Df y Denf fue baja y negativa (-0.23); concluyéndose, que la edad del animal influyó sobre las características de fibra evaluadas y que estas pueden ser utilizados como nuevos criterios de selección en el mejoramiento genético de ovinos.

    The objective of the present study was i) to assess the fiber density (Denf), hair duct density, fiber diameter (Df) and staple length (Lm) in Corriedale sheep at five different ages (dl = teeth of milk, b-2d = 2-teeth, b-4d = 4-teeth, b-6d = 6-teeth, b-bll = full mouth) and 3 measurement zones (shoulder, middle rib and rump); ii) determine the correlation between Denf, Denp, Df and Lm; 30 sheep were used; The completely randomized design with 3 × 5 factorial arrangement and a correlation analysis (r) between the mentioned variables were used. The results show that Denp was higher in dl animals (3.46 ± 0.67 fibers / mm2) and lower in b-bll (2.54 ± 0.75 fibers / mm2), respectively; while the Lm was higher in b-bll than in dl, 95.17 ± 5.71 and 73.74 ± 10.66 mm2 respectively. The Df was lower in dl animals than in b-bll, 24.69 ± 1.51 and 28.79 ± 3.59 μm, respectively. The r between Denf and Denp was high and positive (r = 0.74), while the r between Df and Denf was low and negative (-0.23); concluding that the age of the animal influenced the fiber characteristics evaluated and that these can be used as new selection criteria in the genetic improvement of sheep.
