Resumen de Los Jazmines: Prácticas funerarias locales durante la presencia del Inka y el Contacto Hispano en Chile Central

  Se presenta una reconstrucción a partir de análisis de colecciones de los contextos funerarios del cementerio indígena Los Jazmines, del periodo Tardío y del Contacto Hispano en Chile Central. Los contextos funerarios presentan un patrón prehispánico local en conjunto con ofrendas de atributos incaicos y europeos. Se caracterizan las particularidades del sitio a partir de su materialidad, enfatizando en la alfarería y en la inclusión de elementos exóticos, particularmente cuentas de vidrio europeas. Se aborda la interacción entre distintos grupos sociales -poblaciones locales, los representantes del Tawantinsuyu y los españoles junto a las poblaciones andinas trasladadas a Chile Central por estos últimos- para entender continuidades y cambios en las comunidades locales durante el periodo entre los siglos XIV y XVII.

  We present a reconstruction, based on collections analysis, of funerary contexts from the Los Jazmines indigenous cemetery in Central Chile, which dates to the Late and early Hispanic Contact Periods. Funerary contexts show a local pre-Hispanic pattern accompanied by offerings that have both Incaic and European attributes. The site is characterized through its material culture, with an emphasis on pottery and exotic elements, especially European glass beads. We discuss the interaction between different social groups -the local population, Tawantinsuyu and Spaniard representatives, and Andean workers brought to central Chile by them-, to understand the processes, continuities, and changes within local communities between the 14th and 17th centuries.
