Crimes da paixão: valores morais e normas de conduta na música popular brasileira

    This article begins with a brief review ofthe evolution of the relationship betweenthe sexes in Brazil, then focuses on theearly twentieth century, when womenwere rewriting history, proclaiming theirrights to equality and public participationin society. At the same time, traditionalvalues were reinforced by new laws andpopular culture — in this case sertanejamusic —, reaffirming the honor of thefemale as a significant part of the nationalhonor. So, the article relates the debatesabout gender with the changes wroughtby the Republican State, which treated thefamily, the space for women’s power, asthe fundamental unit of social organization and in this way generated the discourses trying to control women’s actions

    Após breve reconstituição da gênese das relações de gênero no Brasil, o artigo se detém nas primeiras décadas do século XX, quando as mulheres começaram a reescrever sua história através da reivindicação de direitos iguais e participação em espaços públicos. Neste mesmo período reforçavam-se, através da legislação e da cultura popular — no caso as canções sertanejas — valores tradicionais que reafirmavam a honra feminina como constitutiva da honra da nação. Portanto, o texto relaciona os discursos sobre as questões de gênero com a reorientação do Estado republicano. Este, ao tomar a família, espaço de poder feminino, como célula fundamental da organização social, gestava os discursos que visavam ao controle sobre as ações das mulheres.
