Resumen de Retórica e estética na música no século XVIII

  This article shows how music released itself, in the Eighteenth-Century, from the poetic and rhetoric principles that defined it as ars liberalis and as scientia, and how it started to be comprehended according to the aesthetic vision of the fine-arts. Therefore, it recovers, in first place, the ethical basis of the poetic-rhetoric vision, expressed in the notion of decorum. In second place, it demonstrates how this criterion was substituted by the aesthetic notion of beauty and by its defining principles: the ideas of internal symmetry and originality. This article shows that recovering a historically oriented view of the technical and theoretical principles of Eighteenth-Century music allows us to have a more profound comprehension of this art

  Este artigo mostra como a música no século XVIII desvinculou-se progressivamente dos princípios poéticoretóricos que a definiam como ars liberalis e como scientia, passando a ser compreendida pelo viés estético das belas- artes. Para isso, resgata em um primeiro momento o fundamento moral da concepção poético-retórica, sintetizada na noção de decoro. A seguir, evidencia como esse critério vai sendo substituído pela noção estética de beleza e por suas premissas definidoras:

  as idéias de equilíbrio interno e de originalidade.

  Com isso, demonstra que o resgate de uma abordagem historicamente orientada dos princípios técnicos e teóricos da música do século XVIII pode proporcionar uma compreensão mais profunda dessa arte.
