Resumen de A morte-vida do corpo místico: espetáculo fúnebre e a ordem cósmica da política em "Vida ou panegírico fúnebre a Afonso Furtado de Mendonça (1676)"

This article tries to interpret the funereal representations that appear in the panegyric written in 1676 in honour to a governor-general of Brazil, Afonso Furtado of Mendonça, who had just died. Its objective is to perceive the articulation between those funereal representations and the theological-political prescriptions of order, hierarchy and the directions of the political conduction of colonial civil community. Therefore, we try to understand the roles of rhetorical-poetical mechanisms, linked to the panegyric composition in its funereal variant, in the production of symbolic goods destined to the colonists' political education. That means that such representations will be taken as elements of a poetics of power, indispensable for the understanding of the political pacts of Portuguese America.

Este artigo procura interpretar as representações fúnebres que aparecem no panegírico, escrito em 1676, em homenagem ao governador-geral do Brasil, Afonso Furtado de Mendonça, que, na ocasião, acabara de falecer. O objetivo é perceber a articulação entre representações fúnebres e a prescrição teológico-política específica da ordem, da hierarquia e dos sentidos adequados à condução da comunidade civil colonial. Assim, procura-se compreender papéis de mecanismos retóricopoéticos, ligados à composição panegírica em sua variante fúnebre, na produção de bens simbólicos destinados à educação política dos colonos.
Isso quer dizer que tais representações serão tomadas como elementos de uma poética do poder, indispensável para a compreensão dos pactos políticos da América portuguesa.
