This paper firstly focuses on the conceptual premises and on the methodological basis of an innovative research line concerning the trinomial ‘collections-reading experiences-Artificial Intelligence’ in the conceptual, physical and digital space of public libraries. Secondly it illustrates some studies and experiences that, at least partly, can be traced back to this research line. In the final part of the article the author describes the first applications within specific projects, still in progress, about the implementation of the prototype “Reading(&)Machine” by the Università di Torino and the Politecnico di Torino, in partnership with two library systems.
