  • The increasement of the structure’s services-life plays a significant role in saving resources,carbon-footprint decreasement and reduction of building and demolitionwastes. Facts that have huge impact in the sustainable society development. Consideringthis, the monitoring systems are ones of the most effective measures toachieve the extension of the structures service-life in order to increase the sustainabilityin this sector. In the case of the Reinforcement Concrete Structures (RCS) theimplementation of embedded voltametric sensors like monitoring system would bethe most suitable. These sensors allow creating smart sensors networks, recollectingthe most quantity and accurate information as is possible of the RCS, this producesthe optimisation of the maintenance and refurbishment actions, reducing the resourcesemployed in these tasks. In this study is presented a proposal of very effective smart monitoring system tocontrol the durability of the RCS. This system is capable to estimate parameters verycorrelated with the corrosion phenomena such as: oxygen permeability, humidityavailability variations, pH and concentration of chlorides in the concrete pore solution.Being the corrosion, ones of the main phenomenon of lost durability in RCS.
