One of the lasting results of the Franco-Romanian alliance during the Great War was an unprecedented policy of intellectual cooperation aimed at strengthening the cultural unity of the new Romania with the prestigious support of the French educational system. Some of the most important visits to Romania by French intellectuals in the 1920s can be explained by the ambitions of this cultural policy; they bear the mark of a persistent culture of war that promoted and extended the Franco-Romanian alliance in peacetime, while continuing to designate yesterday’s enemies in the context of a new intellectual collaboration.

L’alliance franco-roumaine durant la Grande Guerre a permis l’essor d’une politique de coopération intellectuelle sans précédent, destinée à renforcer l’unité culturelle de la nouvelle Roumanie avec l’appui prestigieux de l’enseignement français. Certains voyages d’intellectuels français dans la Roumanie des années 1920 s’expliquent par les ambitions de cette politique culturelle. Ils portent la marque d’une persistance de la culture de guerre qui exalte et prolonge l’alliance franco-roumaine en temps de paix, tout en continuant à désigner les ennemis d’hier dans le contexte d’une nouvelle collaboration intellectuelle.
