This article is dedicated to some proverbs of mythological content in Zenobius’ Epitome, whose exegetical sections show a possible derivation from mythographic sources. In the first part the interpretations of some proverbs (Zen. Ath. 1,19; 1,34; 1,1) are analysed, which could have been affected by the influence of early mythographers such as Hellanicus of Lesbos and Herodorus of Heraclea. The second part deals with the exegetical sections of other proverbs (Zen. Ath. 2,6; 3,85; 3,155) where the use of mythographic sources seems very likely.
