The prevalence of canine leishmaniosis in the town of Cáceres, Spain, has been studied in the presente work. The number of analized sera, by means of the immunoenzymatic method ELISA was of 240: 82 of them were positive, which implies a prevalence of 34,16%.
With regard to the possible influence that the variables age, sex, race, signs of disease, habitat and the fact of belonging to a pack of hounds can have in the presentation of this disease, it has been found that only the variables: age, signs of disease and the fact of belonging to a pack of hounds can significantly influence seropositivity. Greatest prevalence was observed in senile animals as opposed to the young ones in the same way as those suspected of disease at first sight and finally a greatest prevalence in animals belonging to a pack of hounds.
