“Armas y Cuerpos” a publication devoted to cadets

  • The Academia General Militar (AGM), altogether with the Centro Universitario de la Defensa (CUD) from the University of Zaragoza, is the military academy responsible for the formation and training of the Offi cer Cadets of the Spanish Army. The AGM currently releases two kinds of publications: the monthly newsletter “Suplemento Armas y Cuerpos” and the quarterly magazine “Revista Armas y Cuerpos”. The former one is mainly addressed to all the members of the Academia General Militar (AGM) as well as all the institutions and people who are related to it. In “Suplemento Armas y Cuerpos”, cadets, teachers and collaborators report on specifi c military events, daily training exercises and learning activities within the premises of the AGM. The latter, “Revista Armas y Cuerpos” has got a different goal: it welcomes all scientifi c articles and documents which are linked to the militia. This quarterly magazine is open to all sorts of experts on the defence world. The important fact is that especially from 2017 onwards the “Suplemento Armas y Cuerpos” has published numerous articles, especially in English but also in French, written by teachers and, what is more important, by Offi cer Cadets, who have had the chance of transforming their linguistic capacity in Spanish into a linguistic competence in English. The “Suplemento Armas y Cuerpos” is another tool that we, foreign language teachers, use to encourage our students to lose their fear of being publicly judged for their English or French performance.
