Resumen de Bahía Blanca (provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina) como puerto de escala de cruceros turísticos

  El crucerismo constituye actualmente el segmento turístico de mayor crecimiento. Dada su popularidad, las compañías de cruceros han buscado constantemente alternativas a los productos masivos, que les permitan diferenciar su oferta. De esta manera, han surgido nuevas rutas y regiones, entre las cuales se encuentra Sudamérica, liderada por Brasil y Argentina.

  El objetivo del presente artículo es analizar las potencialidades de la localidad argentina de Bahía Blanca como puerto de escala de cruceros, justificando su factibilidad a partir de las características portuarias y la oferta regional de atractivos. Además, se presentan las particularidades del turismo de cruceros y su situación global actual.

  Para realizar esta investigación se revisó literatura temática y también datos estadísticos, ambos provenientes de diversas fuentes, incluyendo entrevistas a informantes clave públicos y privados. La hipótesis puede precisarse en los siguientes términos: el complejo portuario de Bahía Blanca se presenta como una alternativa de escala para cruceros turísticos dada su condición natural e infraestructura y la oferta turística de su región.

  Cruise tourism is currently an increasing touristic travel option. In response to this growth, cruise lines are in continuous search for new products to be able to diversify their current offers. New routes and destinations, such as South America (Brazil in first place followed by Argentina) have therefore emerged.

  The aim of this paper is to analyze the Argentinean city of Bahia Blanca considering it as a new South American port of call whose potential lies in its technical features and in the regional attractions of the city. Attention is also paid to the particularities of cruises and their current worldwide situation.

  To this end, thematic bibliography and statistical information were reviewed. This material was obtained from different sources, including interviews to public and private key informants. Our hypothesis lies in the following terms: Bahia Blanca is presented as an alternative cruising port of call in view of the natural and technical features of its port and its regional touristic attractions.
