Identificar la capacidad de carga de un destino o atractivo turístico es fundamental para la planeación y desarrollo de la actividad turística enfocada hacia la sustentabilidad, principalmente porque permite reconocer el número de visitantes que deben permanecer al mismo tiempo en el mismo lugar.
Dada la importancia del tema, el presente documento pretende identificar los puntos críticos para el estudio de la capacidad de carga en el centro histórico de San Miguel de Allende, Gto. con la finalidad de reconocer los problemas potenciales que se generan a través del turismo masivo y la falta de planeación.
Dicha investigación es dividida en cuatro etapas, la primera de ellas desarrolla el encuadre conceptual de la capacidad de carga, abordando diversas investigaciones y autores. Posteriormente se realiza en encuadre metodológico, en donde se específica el diseño de la investigación.
La tercera etapa de la investigación corresponde al trabajo de campo, la obtención de los resultados y el análisis de los mismos. Para finalmente llegar a las reflexiones finales, en donde se resalta la importancia de estos estudios para poder desarrollar una actividad turística organizada.
En conclusión, es importante destacar que el texto abre la puerta para ofertar nuevas rutas turísticas que favorezcan la descentralización de la actividad.

Identifying the carrying capacity of a destination or tourist attraction is essential for the planning and development of tourism activity focused on sustainability, mainly because it allows recognizing the number of visitors who must stay in the same place at the same time.
Given the importance of the subject, this document aims to identify the critical points for the study of load capacity in the historic center of San Miguel de Allende, Gto. in order to recognize the potential problems that are generated through mass tourism and lack of planning.
This research is divided into four stages, the first of which develops the conceptual framework of the carrying capacity, addressing various investigations and authors. Subsequently, it is carried out in a methodological framework, where the research design is specified.
The third stage of the research corresponds to field work, obtaining the results and analyzing them. To finally reach the final reflections, where the importance of these studies is highlighted in order to develop an organized tourist activity.
Finally, it is important to note that the text opens the door to offer new tourist routes that favor the centralization of the activity.
