    La Guardia Colonial, creada por la ley de presupuestos de 1908, sustituyó a las fuerzas de Infantería de Marina que desde 1870 prestaban servicio de guarnición en las islas españolas del golfo de Guinea. Organizada en un primer momento con oficiales y clases de la Guardia Civil y tropa indígena fue prácticamente, hasta 1968, la única fuerza militar que mantuvo el orden público y la vigilancia y seguridad del territorio. En este trabajo se estudia la evolución de sus uniformes, desde su creación hasta el año de la independencia de Guinea Ecuatorial, incluyendo los uniformes de la Guardia Marítima, organizada en 1951, con funciones de policía naval y vigilancia de costas y embarcaciones.

    The Colonial Guard created by the budget law of 1908, replaced the marine forces that since 1870 provided a garrison service in the Spanish islands of the gulf of Guinea. Organized initially with officers and classes of the Civil Guard and native troops, it was, practically, until 1968, the only military force that maintained public order and the security and surveillance of the territory. In this work the evolution of their uniforms is studied, from its creation to the year of the independence of Equatorial Guinea, including the uniforms of the Maritime Guard, organized in 1951, with functions of naval police and surveillance of coasts and boats.
