En este texto se explica brevemente la repercusión que tuvo el primer año de pandemia producida por el COVID-19 en uno de los departamentos de Colecciones del Museo de América. La crisis sanitaria interrumpió la relación tradicional con el público que habitualmente visita los museos. El cierre de la institución condicionó el trabajo cotidiano del personal, limitó las solicitudes de los investigadores e impidió disfrutar a los visitantes de las colecciones. La única forma de mantener el contacto fue la utilización de las redes sociales; pero gran parte del público, de manera especial el de mayor edad, no tenía la destreza suficiente para utilizar las herramientas digitales o carecía de ellas, por lo que quedó doblemente aislado. Hoy, seguimos viviendo momentos inciertos. Tras meses de pandemia, visitantes, investigadores y conservadores tenemos la necesidad de afrontar nuevos retos para alcanzar objetivos comunes que permitan superar el aislamiento que nos está causando esta crisis.

This text briefly explains the impact of the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic on one of the Collections departments of the Museo de América. The health crisis interrupted the traditional relationship with the public that usually visits museums. The closure of the institution conditioned the daily work of the staff, limited the requests of researchers and prevented visitors from enjoying the collections. The only way to keep in touch was to use social networks; but a large part of the public, especially the older one, did not have enough skill to use digital tools or lacked them, so they were doubly isolated. Today, we continue to live in uncertain times. After months of pandemic, visitors, researchers and curators have the need to face new challenges to achieve common goals that allow us to overcome the isolation that this crisis is causing us.
