La relación de Kant con el judaísmo es sumamente controvertida. En este trabajo procuraré abordar unproblema específicoque aparece en varios de los pasajes en los que Kant se refiere al judaísmo: el denominado ‘regreso a Israel’. Esta expresión puede querer decir dos cosas diferentes: por un lado, la idea del regreso del pueblo judío a Palestina. Pero, por otro lado, algunos pensadores cristianos comprendieron esta idea como la necesidad de la inclusión de los judíos en la Iglesia. Ambas ideas tienen su origen en el hecho de que los judíos se encuentran dispersos en otras naciones del mundo y de que, a pesar de ello, han conservado su unidad; un hecho que Kant describe como un ‘milagro’. Kant ha discutido en profundidad este problema en los Vorarbeiten destinados al escrito Die Religion... El análisis de dichos pasajes puede contribuir a esclarecer la cuestión de la controvertida relación de Kant con el judaísmo.

Kant’s relationship to Judaism is highly controversial. In this paper I will try to address a specific question that is related to many of the passages where Kant speaks of Judaism: the one concerning the so-called ‘return of Israel’. That expression involves two different issues: on the one side, the idea of the return of the Jewish people to Palestine. On the other side, some Christian thinkers understood this idea as the necessity of the inclusion of the Jews in the Church. Both ideas are rooted in the fact that the Jews are dispersed among other nations in the world, and despite that they have conserved unity; a fact that Kant describes as a ‘miracle’. This problem is deeply discussed by Kant in the Vorarbeiten dedicated to the work Die Religion…. Analyzing those passages can shed new light on the question of Kant’s controversial relationship to Judaism.
