    Provo fue un movimiento revolucionario que desarrolló su actividad en Ámsterdam entre 1965 y 1967. Una de sus estrategias de uso del espacio público fue la reunión en torno a diferentes monumentos cívicos de la ciudad con el objetivo de apropiar y subvertir su simbología. En el presente artículo se revisa la historia del movimiento en relación a tres monumentos de Ámsterdam que cumplieron un papel determinante en sus protestas y acciones: Het Lieverdje, escenario de la lucha antitabaco y de la consolidación de Provo, el monumento del general Van Heutsz, donde se produce el cuestionamiento del pasado colonial neerlandés, y el Dokwerker, lugar en el que comienzan las revueltas del 10 de marzo de 1966 y del 14 de junio de ese mismo año.

    Provo was a revolutionary movement that developed its activity in Amsterdam between 1965 and 1967. One of its strategies for occupying the public space was to gather around different civic monuments of the city in order to appropriate and subvert its symbolism. This paper reviews the history of the movement in relation to three Amsterdam monuments that played a decisive role in Provo’s protests and actions: Het Lieverdje, the place of the anti-smoking campaign and the consolidation of Provo, the General Van Heutsz monument, where the critical questioning of Dutch colonial past took place, and the Dokwerker, where the revolts of 10 March 1966 and 14 June 1966 began.
