Part of a special section on 19th-century sculpture. The decade since the exhibition “La Sculpture fraņcaise au XIXe siècle” at the Grand Palais in Paris, in 1986, has seen a revival of interest in 19th-century sculpture in France. When the Musée d'Orsay opened in December 1986, sculpture was everywhere. Seven years later, in the splendor of the newly renovated courtyards at the Louvre, the triumph of sculpture was complete.
