Resumen de Suisse

Dario Gamboni

  • Part of a special section on 19th-century sculpture. The rediscovery and exploration of 19th-century Swiss sculpture seems to have begun at the start of the 1970s with the architectural studies of Georg Germann. Researches specifically dedicated to sculpture appeared at the end of the decade and found a platform at the exhibition “Marcello (1836–1879), Adèle d'Affry, duchesse de Castiglione Colonna” at the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire de Fribourg in 1980. Swiss sculpture is dealt with in volumes II and X of the new Swiss history of art, published over the past decade under the title Ars helvetica. Various other recent studies and monographs are listed.
