Resumen de La prédica higienista en la construcción de una imagen de la maternidad en Tucumán, Argentina, a fines del siglo XIX y comienzos del XX

El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la construcción de una imagen de la maternidad en Tucumán a fines del siglo XIX y comienzos del XX, a través de los discursos médicos e higienistas, que alcanzaron una importancia creciente en la sociedad y en las decisiones políticas del Estado argentino, para controlar y mejorar las condiciones de vida de la población, a fin de conformar un Estado moderno. En tal dirección, la prédica higienista se preocupó principalmente por el problema de clases trabajadoras, focalizando su atención en las madres que revestían una doble importancia: en tanto mano de obra y por su papel de educadoras de la prole. Su interés por fomentar en las mujeres conductas “higiénicas, amorosas y cuidadosas” contribuyeron a exaltar la importancia del rol maternal que, con algunas modificaciones, llega a nuestros días.

The objetive of this paper is amalysis the construction of the image of the motherhood at` the end of the XIX century and begening of XX century in Tucumán, Argentina. This image is study throught the speash of the physicians and higienist. They influence the political decition of the state Argentina. The goberment was worried to control and improve the population condition in agreement with the idea of a modern state. The physiciens and higienist were do worried mainly for the problem of the working class, fowsing in mothers that had the folowing characteristies: are working class and amother as in change of the children education. This ideas of mother hood with some modification appean still in the society.
