    El siguiente artículo forma parte de la investigación llevada a cabo en la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Palermo sobre la modernidad y el regionalismo en el noroeste argentino. En 1924, en la Revista de Arquitectura, primera publicación disciplinar de Argentina, editada por la Sociedad Central de Arquitectos, se publica un artículo de los jóvenes arquitectos Alberto Prebisch y Ernesto Vautier, con el nombre de “Ensayo de Estética Contemporánea”. Vautier y Prebisch, recién llegados de Francia donde habían conocido a Le Corbusier y Tony Garnier abren con su artículo el debate sobre la modernización de la arquitectura en Argentina. El artículo consta de dos partes, un ensayo sobre las nuevas formas hacia las que se orientan el arte y la arquitectura, y un proyecto para una ciudad azucarera en la provincia de Tucumán que introduce tanto una concepción moderna en el proyecto urbano, como una reformulación de la estructura económica en la región.

    The following article is part of the research carried out at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Palermo on modernity and regionalism in northwestern Argentina. In 1924, in the Revista de Arquitectura, the first disciplinary publication in Argentina, edited by the Central Society of Architects, an article by the young architects Alberto Prebisch and Ernesto Vautier was published under the name of “Essay of Contemporary Aesthetics”. Vautier and Prebisch, recently arrived from France where they had met Le Corbusier and Tony Garnier, open with their article the debate on the modernization of architecture in Argentina. The article consists of two parts, an essay on the new forms towards which art and architecture are oriented, and a project for a sugar town in the province of Tucumán that introduces both a modern conception in the urban project, as well as a reformulation of the economic structure in the region.
