    A partir del estudio del “index” o inventario alfabético de la librería del cenobio de CañosSantos (TOR), confeccionado a finales del siglo XVIII -cuando este importante convento y centro deestudios de la Orden daba fin a su etapa de mayor esplendor y apogeo-, pretendemos arrojar luz sobreel magnífico fondo documental y bibliográfico que albergó el recinto conventual. Para ello, hacemosun estudio de la biblioteca atendiendo al elevado número de ejemplares que contenía, así como asu diversidad temática, idiomática, de contenidos, de autoría, de impresores, y de lugares y añosde edición. Del mismo modo, incidimos en las modalidades de adquisición de los libros, los gastosconventuales destinados a la inversión en este lujoso producto y los avatares padecidos por algunosde los ejemplares recopilados. Por último, valoramos la incidencia de esta magnífica librería en laformación académica y espiritual de la comunidad religiosa, que custodió y conformó tan destacadocúmulo material de saberes, y concluimos atendiendo a las razones que llevaron la destrucción delrico patrimonio bibliográfico que analizamos.

    By studying the “index” or alphabetical inventory of the library of the monastery ofCanos Santos (TOR), made in the late eighteenth century - when this important research centerand convent of the Order was at the end of its greatest splendor and apogee-, we intend to shedlight on the magnificent collection of documents and literature that housed the convent grounds.To do this, we make a study of the library in response to the high number of copies that contained,as well as its thematic diversity, language diversity, of content, of authorship, of printers, and ofediting sites and years. In the same way, we incise about different ways of acquiring the books,the conventual investments in this luxurious product and the vicissitudes suffered by some of thespecimens collected. Finally, we assess the impact of this magnificent library in the academic andspiritual formation of the religious community, which formed so prominent custody and materialwealth of knowledge, and conclude attending the reasons that led the destruction of the rich heritageof literature that we reviewed.
