    En este escrito se propone a la posmodernidad (tardomodernidad, hipermodernidad, sobremoder-nidad o cualquier otro término semejante) como contexto del arte contemporáneo. Para dar razón de esto ha de definirse qué es la posmodernidad y por qué es el contexto del arte contemporáneo. Para conseguirlo se optó por recurrir a los diagnósticos de connotados intelectuales, a saber, Frederic Jameson, Jean-François Lyotard, Gilles Lipovetsky, Gianni Vattimo y Mario Vargas Llosa, para los cuales la posmodernidad es un fenómeno reactivo y generalizado a los excesos del proyecto moderno con consecuencias en la cultura y las artes. Interpretar es entender a profundidad, poniendo un texto en su contexto, dice Mauricio Beuchot. El arte contemporáneo es el texto que se quiere entender. El con-texto de éste es la posmodernidad, así que caracterizarlo permitirá contextuar adecuadamente el arte reciente y para hacerlo se contextualizará desde la teoría de ésta.

    In this paper we propose postmodernity (late modernity, hypermodernity, supermodernity or any other similar term) as a context of contemporary art. To explain this, what is postmodernity and why is the context of contemporary art? To achieve this, it was decided to resort to the diagnoses of important intellectuals, namely, Frederic Jameson, Jean-Francois Lyotard, Gilles Lipovetsky, Gianni Vattimo and Mario Vargas Llosa, for whom postmodernity is a reactive and widespread phenomenon to the exces-ses of the modern project with consequences in culture and the arts. Interpreting is understanding in depth, putting a text in context, says Mauricio Beuchot. Contemporary art is the text that we want to understand. The context of this is postmodernity, so to characterize it will contextualize recent art and to do so it will be contextualized from the theory of it.
