    Los cambios tecnológicos ocurridos entre finales del siglo pasado y la actualidad han conllevado una transformación radical en la producción y la organización de la vida social, alterando también las teorías y métodos de la investigación social. En ese escenario, el libro de Ernesto Calvo y Natalia Aruguete “Fake news, trolls y otros encantos. Cómo funcionan (para bien y para mal) las redes sociales” se propone describir cómo operan las redes sociales. Para ello, los autores discuten las estrategias de comunicación, los mecanismos de polarización política, y la construcción de eventos comunicacionales y de encuadres mediáticos, articulando los análisis teóricos con estudios de casos. La publicación aquí reseñada resulta central para comprender el mundo-de-la-vida virtual y tornalo legible para investigaciones e intervenciones futuras.

    The technological changes that occurred between the end of the last century and today have led to a radical transformation in the production and organization of social life, also altering the theories and methods of social research. In this scenario, the book by Ernesto Calvo and Natalia Aruguete “Fake news, trolls and other charms. How does social media work (for better or worse)” aims to describe how social networks operate. To do this, the authors discuss communication strategies, mechanisms of political po-larization, and the construction of communicational events and media frames, articu-lating theoretical analyzes with case studies. The publication reviewed here is central to understanding the virtual world-of-life and makes it legible for future research and interventions.
