Las formas de intervención y transformación de los moteles en América están basadas en el estudio tipológico e histórico entre 1920-2020. Si bien es cierto, se crearon en Norteamérica como espacios de descanso y alojamiento en carretera, al llegar a Latinoamérica su significado cambia y se vuelven espacios de encuentros sexuales casuales; rompiendo con lo doméstico y dando paso al erotismo. Aparte de los ámbitos históricos y tipológicos, se tomará en cuenta los cambios sociales y simbólicos de los elementos estructurales del lenguaje arquitectónico de los moteles, tanto exterior como interior, con el fin de definir cómo los perciben, utilizan, ignoran y juzgan las sociedades a través del tiempo. El objetivo es entender la transformación del diseño, la estética y la configuración arquitectónica de este establecimiento, mediante un estudio cronológico del último siglo, partiendo desde la comprensión de su esencia: la conexión directa que tiene con la calle y el ocultamiento para la intimidad de sus usuarios.

The forms of intervention and transformation of motels in America are based on the typological and historical study between 1920 - 2020. Although it is true, they were created in North America as spaces for rest and accommodation on the road, upon reaching Latin America their meaning changes and they become spaces for casual sexual encounters; breaking with the domestic and giving way to eroticism. Apart from the historical and typological areas, the social and symbolic changes of the structural elements of the architectural language of the motels, both exterior and interior, will be considered to define how societies perceive, use, ignore and judge them through time. The objective is to understand the transformation of the design, the esthetics and architectural configuration of this establishment, through a chronological study of the last century, starting from the understanding of its essence: the direct connection it has with the street and the concealment for the privacy of its users.
