Este capítulo presenta y discute hechos clínicos que se manifiestan como extraños “accidentes” en el campo analítico. De repente, el analista es sobresaltado por la aparición abrupta de descargas, actuaciones, síntomas, imágenes y situaciones que lo hacen sentir perplejo y atemorizado. Estos “accidentes” llevan al analista a sentirse extraño. Su impresión es que están participando en situaciones llamadas Unheimlich por Freud. A través de material clínico el autor propone que estos accidentes indican la sustitución de lo conocido, lo familiar, por lo no familiar. Pero lo no familiar no es del todo desconocido, porque remite a experiencias primitivas que no han sido suficientemente simbolizadas. Esta ambigüedad se manifiesta en la desorientación del analista, que no sabe si su función analítica está intacta o alterada. Se demuestra que ambas situaciones están de hecho presentes. Los aspectos teóricos se discuten en la secuencia.

When the analytic field becomes Unheimlich: This paper presents and discusses clinical events that manifest themselves as strange “accidents” in the analytic field. Suddenly, the analyst is startled by the abrupt appearance of emotional discharges, acting-out behaviors, symptoms, images and situations that make him/her feel perplexed and frightened, strange. The feeling is that he/she is participating in one of those situations called Unheimlich by Freud. Through clinical material, the author proposes that these accidents indicate the replacement of the known, the familiar, by the unfamiliar. But the unfamiliar is not entirely unknown, because it refers to primitive experiences that have not been sufficiently symbolized. This ambiguity manifests itself in the disorientation of the analyst, who does not know whether his/her analytic function is intact or altered. It is shown that both situations are in fact present. Theoretical aspects are sequentially discussed.
