    Tras más de veinte años al frente de la Federación Rusa, Vladímir Putin desconfía profundamente de Occidente y teme que el objetivo final de Estados Unidos y sus aliados sea conseguir que Rusia se desintegre, como en su momento lo hizo la URSS. El objetivo fundamental de Putin es «conservador», más que «revisionista»: preservar para sus sucesores el statu quo actual. En cualquier caso, se trata de un líder con escasa aversión al riesgo, que puede emprender acciones atrevidas si entiende que el riesgo que asume es proporcional al peligro que quiere evitar.

    After more than twenty years at the helm of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin deeply distrusts the West and fears that the goal of the United States and its allies is to get Russia to disintegrate, as the USSR did at the time. Putin's fundamental objective is ‘conservative’ rather than ‘revisionist’: to preserve for his successors the current status quo. In any case, he is a leader with little aversion to risk, who can take daring actions if he understands that the risk, he takes is proportional to the danger he wants to avoid.
