    El propósito principal del presente trabajo es analizar un excepcional estudio de caso, relativo a la comisión de un presunto delito de peculado por parte de un intérprete diplomático romano, Vitaliano, en el marco de las negociaciones derivadas del conflicto bélico acaecido entre el Jaganato ávaro y el Imperio por el control de la ciudad de Sirmium durante los primeros años de reinado de Justino II (565-578).

    The principal purpose of the present paper is to analyze an exceptional case study, related to the alleged commission of an embezzlement crime by a Roman diplomatic interpreter, Vitalianus, in the context of the arising negotiations from the ongoing war conflict between the Avar Khaganate and the Empire for the control of the city of Sirmium, that took place during the first years of the reign of Justin II (565-578).
