    O objetivo do presente artigo é analisar a biografia de frei Miguelinho, escrita por Manoel Dantas e publicada em 1897. O exame parte do processo de construção da republicanização da memória nacional, a partir da escrita historiográfica sobre a Revolução Pernambucana de 1817. Para atingir tal escopo, primeiramente, discorremos acerca da implicação da reconfiguração do campo político no Brasil, na construção da memória nacional, no final do século XIX. Em seguida, analisamos as condições de produção da biografia. E, por fim, examinamos de que maneira as narrativas produzidas por Manoel Dantas sobre frei Miguelinho instituem uma dada leitura acerca do considerado herói republicano do Rio Grande do Norte.

    The aim of this article is to analyze the biography of friar Miguelinho, written by Manoel Dantas and published in 1897. The examination starts from the process of construction of the republicanization of the national memory, from the historiographical writing about the Pernambuco Revolution of 1817. To reach such a scope, firstly, I discuss the implication of the reconfiguration of the political in Brazil in the construction of the national memory in the late nineteenth century. Then, I analyze the conditions of production of the biography and, finally, examine how the narratives produced by Manoel Dantas about friar Miguelinho institute a given reading about the considered republican hero of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil).
