En los años veinte del siglo XX, el problema que la cofradía matriz de la Virgen de la Cabeza tenía era la gestión del Real Santuario de Ntra. Sra. de la Cabeza por parte de los sacerdotes diocesanos; de ahí que se pidiera al obispo de Jaén que los sustituyeran por una Orden religiosa.
El problema con los rectores del santuario venía de la dejadez que hacían de sus funciones, dedicados a otras tareas no pastorales.
La situación se resolvió con la llegada de los PP. Trinitarios en 1930.
En estos años que estudiamos hay un interés por declarar al santuario Monumento Nacional, para evitar las actuaciones desafortunadas que en el edificio se habían llevado a cabo.
Otro asunto importante en 1926 fue la visita del rey Alfonso XIII al santuario, al cual había concedido el título de “Real” en 1918.
La Real Cofradía Matriz elegía a sus hermanos mayores de una terna de cofrades, por medio del voto secreto de ellos.
En esta década tendrá lugar un acontecimiento significativo para la devoción a la Virgen de la Cabeza y para la ciudad de Andújar, la celebración del VII Centenario de la Aparición de la Virgen al pastor. La organización de la efeméride y su desarrollo entre 1927 y 1928, es analizada.

In the twenties of the twentieth century, the problem that the parent brotherhood of the Virgen de la Cabeza had was the management of the Royal Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Head by the diocesan priests; hence the bishop of Jaén was asked to replace them with a religious Order.
The problem with the rectors of the sanctuary came from their neglect of their duties, dedicated to other non-pastoral tasks.
The situation was resolved with the arrival of the Trinitarian Fathers in 1930.
In these years we are studying there is an interest in declaring the sanctuary a National Monument; to avoid the unfortunate actions that had been carried out in the building.
Another important event in 1926 was the visit of King Alfonso XIII to the sanctuary, to which he had granted the title of “Royal” in 1918.
The Real Cofradía Matriz (Royal Brotherhood) elected its elder brothers from a list of three brothers, by means of their secret vote.
In this decade a significant event for the devotion to the Virgen de la Cabeza and for the city of Andújar will take place, the celebration of the VII Centenary of the Apparition of the Virgin to the shepherd. The organisation of the event and its development between 1927 and 1928 is analysed.
