El 17 de diciembre de 2010, un joven vendedor callejero, Mohamed Bouazizi, se inmoló ante la sede del Gobierno Provincial de Sidi Bouzid. Poco tiempo después de que se produjera ese hecho, que fue el detonante de la Revolución tunecina, los familiares, amigos y conciudadanos de Bouazizi hicieron circular tres rumores que, finalmente, o resultaron ser falsos o no pudieron ser corroborados. Este texto es un breve estudio sobre las representaciones de clase, género y religión que subyacían en esos rumores y los motivos que explican su puesta en circulación.

On December 17, 2010, a young street vendor, Mohamed Bouazizi, blew himself outside the headquarters of the Sidi Bouzid Provincial Government. Shortly after that event, which triggered the Tunisian Revolution, Bouazizi's family, friends and fellow citizens spread three rumors which, in the end, turned out to be false or which could not be corroborated. This paper is a brief study of the representations of class, gender and religion underlying these rumors, and the reasons for their circulation.
