Resumen de Convey a Graphical Message: The Political Vision of Architectural Drawing

María Asunción Salgado de la Rosa, Javier Francisco Raposo Grau, Belén Butragueño Díaz-Guerra

  • Drawing allows architects to state their point of view to the world. Not only does it make possible the formalization of a space, it is a tool of expression used to think and develop complex concepts that are difficult to transmit with conventional communication mechanisms. In these cases, finding new forms of graphic expression has been essential to propose alternative solutions to the problems affecting society, that require a change of political action. Recurring topics for urban planning such as the search for new city models, the impact of barrier elements on the urban design or sustainability, have motivated the emergence of postmodern architectural responses of undeniable graphic value. Throughout this communication, we will review those cases whose graphic language has contributed to the dissemination of a message, and at the same time that they have led to the opening of new paths for the spatial understanding of our environment.
