    En este último número de la Revista Cartográfica bajo mi gestión, celebramos el final de la jornada 2013-2017 que fue provechosa y positiva para todos. Específicamente en este período que tuve la oportunidad de coordinar los trabajos, tuvimos grandes avances que seguramente van a elevar el padrón de calidad de la Revista, haciendo que cada vez sea más leída y reconocida por lectores de las Américas y del mundo. Hoy, la Revista está disponible en formato digital en la nueva página web y a través de las ediciones impresas que todavía se hacen a pedido. En el año 2015 obtuvimos el Latindex, importante indexador de publicaciones de las Américas y en 2016 la periodicidad pasó de una para dos ediciones al año con una media de 12 artículos por edición, teniendo como meta futura la obtención de otros indexadores de prestigio. El cuadro de revisores del Comité Editorial pasó de ocho a setenta profesionales altamente calificados, de diversos países y con artículos en los cuatro idiomas oficiales del IPGH (español, inglés, portugués y francés). Los criterios y procedimientos de revisión también se perfeccionaron mediante el uso del doble ciego y de la hoja de revisión padrón, para la colocación de los comentarios de los revisores. La Comisión de Cartografía creó el “Premio de Tesis”, que además de honrar importantes trabajos de maestría y doctorado, fomenta parte de los artículos que se publican en la Revista.

    In the last edition of the Cartographic Journal as its publisher, I celebrate a fruitful and positive 2013-2017 journey. In this period, I had the opportunity to coordinate major advances, which will certainly rise the quality standard of the journal, making it even more recognized by readers in the Americas and in the world. The journal is now published in digital format in the new web page, though the printed editions are still published on demand. We obtained the Latindex in 2015, an important indexing system of publications in the Americas. In 2016, the periodicity changed to two editions per year, with an average of 12 articles per edition. As a future goal, we aim at obtaining other prestigious indexing systems. The number of reviewers of the Editorial Board changed from eight to 70 highly-skilled professionals from different countries, reviewing articles in the four official languages of the PAIGH (Spanish, English, Portuguese and French). The review criteria and procedures have also been improved, by using the double blind system and standard sheets to include the reviewers´ comments. The Cartography Commission created the “Prize for the Outstanding Postgraduate’s Thesis”, which fosters part of the articles published in the journal, in addition to awarding relevant Master´s and Doctorate´s works.
