In Carlo Scarpa’s work the concepts of fragment, poetry and time, together with memory, define his work. His well-known project sketches show us interspersed ideas that make up a poem of elements that will be superimposed over time, expressing a world in a single plan. The thoughtful and prolonged creative process leaves its mark on his line on paper. A palimpsest where the layers will last, which will also be a constant reference in its architecture. This essay aims to analyze the palimpsest as a representation technique in Carlo Scarpa’s drawing. Reading the spelling of his sketches leads us to reinterpret his changing journey throughout time and through his strokes.
