Resumen de SEDI y su relación con Finlandia, Artek e Iittala. A propósito de algunos dibujos inéditos

  Presentamos los resultados de la investigación realizada sobre algunos dibujos y documentos de diseño industrial en España durante la década de los 50. El material pertenece mayoritariamente al archivo de ETSAUN y se trata principalmente de dibujos profesionales de Javier Carvajal Ferrer (1929-2005) dentro del grupo SEDI del que fue miembro fundador, entre ellos los del proyecto e instalación de la Feria Española celebrada en 1959 dentro del edificio Rautatalo de Helsinki, sede principal de las Galerías Artek. Aportamos documentación y dibujos inéditos elaborados para otras firmas de diseño o eventos expositivos. Del análisis de la documentación, podemos confirmar la producción de dibujos de arquitectura vinculados a la industria y al diseño industrial por parte de distintos miembros de SEDI. Igualmente aportamos evidencias de la estrecha relación existente y la oportunidad que se le ofreció al diseño español de colaborar con alguna de las referencias internacionales del diseño del momento.

  We present the results obtained from the research carried out on some drawings and documents on industrial design in Spain during the 1950s. Most of the material belong to the ETSAUN archive and mainly consists of professional drawings by Javier Carvajal Ferrer (1929-2005) within the SEDI group of which he was a founding member, including those for the project and installation of the Spanish Fair held in 1959 in the Rautatalo building in Helsinki, the main headquarters of the Artek Galleries. We provide documentation and unpublished drawings produced for other design firms or exhibition events. From the analysis of the documentation, we can confirm the production of architectural drawings linked to industry and industrial design by different members of SEDI. We also provide evidence of the close relationship that existed and the opportunity offered to Spanish design to collaborate with some of the international design references of the time.
