Resumen de Conhecimentos e percepções dos estudantes do ensino médio sobre serpentes

  As serpentes são vítimas de inúmeros tipos de discriminação e, muitas vezes, isso se deve ao desconhecimento da importância ecológica, econômica e social desses animais. Por isso, torna-se importante a construção do conhecimento através de esclarecimentos e da desmistificação de ideias negativas sobre as serpentes. Assim, objetivou-se verificar os conhecimentos e as percepções dos estudantes de 2ª e 3ª séries do ensino médio de uma escola pública no município de Limoeiro do Norte, no Ceará, Brasil, sobre as serpentes. A pesquisa ocorreu no período de abril a junho de 2019. Foram aplicados formulários estruturados para os estudantes contendo perguntas objetivas e discursivas. Os dados coletados foram sistematizados e analisados quanti-qualitativamente e consolidados com a literatura existente. Foi verificado que os estudantes de 2ª série e 3ª série de Ensino Médio da escola apresentam poucos conhecimentos científicos sobre as serpentes e que a maioria deles desconhecem crenças, mitos e lendas relacionadas às serpentes, mas possuem superstições envolvendo esses animais. Nesse sentido, quanto ao conhecimento científico e atitudes, o processo de ensino sobre esses animais pode não ter sido o mais adequado para a abordagem da importância de sua conservação

  Snakes are victims of numerous types of discrimination and, often, this is due to ignorance of the ecological, economic and social importance of these animals. Therefore, it is important to build knowledge through clarification and demystification of negative ideas about snakes.

  Thus, the objective was to verify the knowledge and perceptions of students in the 2nd and 3rd grades of high school in a public school in the municipality of Limoeiro do Norte, Ceará, Brazil, about snakes. The research took place from April to June 2019. Structured forms were applied to students containing objective and discursive questions. The collected data were systematized and analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively and consolidated with the existing literature. It was found that students in the 2nd and 3rd grade of high school at the school have little scientific knowledge about snakes and that most of them are unaware of beliefs, myths and legends related to snakes, but have superstitions involving these animals. In this sense, with regard to scientific knowledge and attitudes, the teaching process about these animals may not have been the most adequate to address the importance of their conservation.
