Following the UK’s exit from the EU, a number of changes have been made to replace EU legislation that no longer applies in the UK.
This includes replacement of the existing EU Construction Products Regulation and replacement of the CE mark with a new UKCA mark, or UKNI mark for Northern Ireland.
Although the UKCA/UKNI approach is similar to that of the CE mark, some important changes have been made to the terminology and process. This note provides a summary of the key changes.
The new marking came into eff ect on 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, use of CE marking is permitted until 1 January 2023 in most cases.
