NUEVOS REGISTROS DE LA SERPIENTE DE CASCABEL Crotalus ravus (SQUAMATA: VIPERIDAE) EN EL ESTADO DE HIDALGO, MÉXICO

    Crotalus ravus es una serpiente de cascabel considerada especie prioritaria. Sin embargo, la zona donde se registró por primera vez en Hidalgo, México, tiene un bajo esfuerzo de muestreo, por lo que actualizar la información sobre su distribución en Hidalgo tiene relevancia biológica y para su conservación. En el presente trabajo se documentan nuevos registros de C. ravus en el sureste de Hidalgo, en los municipios de Almoloya de Juárez, Apan, Cuautepec de Hinojosa, Emiliano Zapata, Singuilucan, Tlanalapa y Zempoala. Los nuevos registros amplían la distribución de la especie 18.3 km al noroeste, 25.52 km al noreste, 13.34 km al suroeste y 25.9 km al sureste de los primeros registros en el estado. La mayoría de los registros se ubican en la zona conocida como la Altiplanicie Pulquera, un área de intensa actividad agrícola, donde pese a ello, C. ravus prospera en las bardas de rocas e hileras de magueyes que rodean o dividen las zonas de cultivo.

    Crotalus ravus is a rattlesnake considered a priority species. However, in the area where it was firs recorded in Hidalgo, Mexico, there has been a low sampling effort. Thus, updating the information about their distribution in Hidalgo has biological can conservation relevance. In the present work, new records of C. ravus in the southeast of Hidalgo are documented in the municipalities of Almoloya de Juárez, Apan, Cuautepec de Hinojosa, Emiliano Zapata, Singuilucan, Tlanalapa and Zempoala. The new records extend the distribution of the species 18.3 km to the northwest, 25.52 km to the northeast, 13.34 km to the southwest y 25.9 km to the southeast of the first records in the state. Most of the records are in the area known as the Altiplanicie Pulquera and characterized by an intense agricultural activity, where despite this, C. ravus thrives on the rock fences and maguey rows that surround or divide the field crops.
