Il saggio indaga sul rapporto tra famiglie del popolo napoletano e nobiltà nuova del Regno di Napoli, attraverso la lettura di un importante manoscritto della fine del Seicento, redatto per il governo di Madrid, nellultimo periodo di Carlo II dAsburgo. I nuovi nobili, di origine popolare, provengono da diversi ambiti: di origine straniera (genovesi, fiorentini, fiamminghi, ebrei), dal mondo produttivo e commerciale o della finanza. Importante, però, per la nobiltà nuova la provenienza dal settore forense e togato dei tribunali napoletani.

The essay investigates the relationship between the families of the ‘Neapolitan people’ and the new nobility of the Kingdom of Naples, through the reading of an important manuscript from the end of the 17th century, written for the government of Madrid, in the last period of Charles II of Habsburg. The new nobles, of popular origin, came from different backgrounds: of foreign origin (Genoese, Florentines, Flemish, Jews), from the world of production and trade or finance. Important, however, for the new nobility was their provenance from the lawyer sector of the Neapolitan courts.
