  • A definition of the"alineacionesgeo-estructurales" (lineaments) and of the"disyuncionesregmagenéticas" (rhegmagenetic disjunctions) of the earth crust is explained. The geomechanical and geo-structural meaning of the patterns of joints that appear in the rook masses is emphasized and a classification of same is given.

    A despeription of the inadicative phenomena for the existence of a rhegmagenetic disjunction pattern is also' painted out.

    Examples of rhegmagenetic disjuctions in Southern Spain and the Western Meaditerranean Sea and onLanzaroteisland (Canary Islands) according to the autor's interpretation are shown.

    The interest of the study of this kind of geological features in Spain for oil and underground water prospection programs isalisoernphasized.
