  El Trienio Constitucional (1820-1823) fue un periodo clave en el largo proceso de crisis del Antiguo Régimen y de revolución liberal en España y en el cual se configuraron los campos de la revolución y de la contrarrevolución. El liberalismo se dividió entre moderados y exaltados que se enfrentaron durante la primera mitad del siglo xix. Y en la oposición al liberalismo confluyeron la contrarrevolución y la antirrevolución que se enquistaron en la vida política española a lo largo del Novecientos (del realismo al carlismo). El Trienio Constitucional, además, tuvo una gran incidencia política en la Europa de la Restauración y en América.

  The Constitutional Triennium (1820-1823) was a key period within the long process of crisis of the Old Regime and of the com-ing of the liberal revolution in Spain when the fields of revolution and counterrevolution were configured. First, liberalism was divided be-tween moderate and exalted liberals, two groups who would be at odds with one another during the first half of the nineteenth century. The counterrevolution and the anti-revolution converged to form an opposition against liberalism. This would persist in Spanish political life throughout the nineteenth century (from royalism to Carlism). The Constitutional Triennium, in addition, had a great political impact in Restoration Europe and the Americas.
