Resumen de Por una historia de la prensa carlista: balance historiográfico y perspectivas de futuro

La prensa desempeñó un papel esencial en la característica longevidad y adaptación del carlismo en España. No obstante, el periodismo no se ha significado como un objeto de estudio preferente en las aproximaciones que viene mereciendo esta forma clásica de contrarrevolución desde hace décadas. Los periódicos prestaron (y prestan), por el contrario, un apoyo indispensable junto a otras fuentes documentales a la hora de construir la historia del legitimismo español y sus escisiones. En este artículo se ofrece primeramente una mirada retrospectiva sobre las contribuciones al estudio de la historia de la prensa carlista. Con esta finalidad se parte de las corrientes historiográficas tanto militantes como científicas. La aproximación a estas corrientes no se puede desvincular de la historia del carlismo como movimiento político. Por último, se arrojan nuevas perspectivas de estudio en torno a otros periódicos no tan estudiados.

The press played an essential role in the characteristic longevity and adaptation of Carlism in Spain. However, journalism has not been considered a preferred object of study in the approaches that this classic form of counterrevolution has deserved for decades. On the contrary, newspapers lent (and do provide) indispensable support along with other documentary sources when it comes to constructing the history of Spanish legitimacy and its splits. This article first offers a retrospective look at the contributions to the study of the history of the Carlist press. For this purpose, we start from both militant and scientific historiographic currents. The approach to these currents cannot be separated from the history of Carlism as a political movement. Finally, new study perspectives are thrown around other not-so-studied newspapers.
