«Que nos alimentemos de su celestial doctrina»: La coyuntura y utilidad del tercer centenario de la canonización de santa Teresa (1922-1923)

    De alguna manera el anterior centenario de la canonización de santa Teresa (1922), determina el presente del año 2022 por la repetición de esquemas y, sobre todo, facilita la verificación de la salud del teresianismo en todos sus niveles por aquellos días del siglo XX. Aquí se realiza un análisis del momento en sus diversos niveles (texto, interpretación, biografía, historia, doctrina) con el fin de percibir lo que aportó esta efeméride del 1922-1923 al movimiento teresiano. Uno de los aspectos más reseñables es que coincide con la labor crítica de Silverio de santa Teresa (1878-1954) sobre la edición del texto teresiano dentro de la Biblioteca Mística Carmelitana, a la vez que este mismo editor, mediante ediciones populares, incrementa notablemente el acceso y el gusto por la lectura teresiana, fuera y dentro del Carmelo.

    In a certain way, the last centenary of the canonization of Saint Teresa (1922) has influenced that of the year 2022 in the repetition of its basic structure, while offering an opportunity to assess the development Teresian studies at all levels during the past 100 years. This article offers an analysis of various aspects of the question, including textual studies, interpretation, biography, history, and doctrine so as to establish what the centenary of 1922-1923 contributed to the Teresian movement. One of the most noteworthy aspects of this period is that it coincides with the critical work of Silverio de Santa Teresa (1878-1954) with respect to the critical edition of Teresian texts within the Mystical Carmelite Library, as well as this editor’s more popular editions, which greatly increased the accessibility and popularity of St. Teresa’s writings, both within and beyond the boundaries of Carmelite religious life.
