Resumen de El papel de la traducción en la didáctica de ELE: ¿existe un método eficaz en la enseñanza de español a los angloparlantes que evite las interferencias lingüísticas?

Vivimos en un tiempo en que es prácticamente imposible prosperar en el mundo profesional sin conocimientos de una o más lenguas extranjeras que permitan una fluida y eficiente comunicación intercultural e interlingüística, oral y escrita. En la actualidad las lenguas más difundidas en el mundo son el inglés y el español. Diferentes centros de idiomas e instituciones académicas proponen múltiples métodos de enseñanza de lenguas, pero, en realidad, no todos resultan eficaces o son eficientes para el aprendizaje de lenguas en un corto plazo de tiempo. Especialmente cuando los discentes deben lograr el nivel competencial exigido en el Grado de Traducción e lnterpretación, se ven abocados a buscar complementar su formación académica en las lenguas de trabajo elegidas. Por este motivo, hemos decidido examinar los métodos de enseñanza de lenguas, compararlos y establecer cuál de ellos podría resultar más eficaz en el aprendizaje de FILE, su funcionamiento en el aula, el modo que está expresado en los manuales de enseñanza. Seguidamente, nos dedicamos a una investigación de los errores típicos cometidos por los estudiantes norteamericanos que aprenden español, intentando distinguir sus causas, las dificultades que enfrentan en su camino de aprendizaje. Acabamos nuestra pequeña indagación con la propuesta de diferentes actividades que pueden ayudar a los estudiantes a prevenir y evitar los fallos en el futuro y, consecuentemente, a mejorar también su competencia para traducir textos del español al inglés y viceversa.

We are currently living in the professionally developing world, in which it is practically impossible to advance without the knowledge of one or several foreign languages, which enables to build up an efficient intercultural and interlinguistic communication. At present the most widely spoken languages are English and Spanish. Different language schools and centres offer various methods of learning a language, as a net result not all of them turn out to be efficient enough to learn a language in a short period of time. Especially when the students have to reach a high level of linguistic competence in their Interpretation studies, they see the necessity of supplementing their studies in the line of work selected. Due to this reason we have decided to investigate different methods of language teaching, compare them, and single out the most efficient among them, researching in its use at the lesson, the way it is displayed and applied in textbooks. Further on we are dedicating our study to the analysis of typical mistakes made by American students, that are learning Spanish. trying to find out the cause of these mistakes, the challenges that they come across while studying. Finally, we are finishing our investigation with a proposal of different activities that can help the students to prevent their would-be mistakes and consequently get the hang of translating texts from Spanish into English and vice versa.
